You could try to directly address the database in your query:
let $content := db:open('DDEX')//MessageHeader
return $contentDoes this help?

Hi,
I've got basex set up using jetty and can query within the firefox browser to return data for example using the url
http://localhost:8080/rest/DDEX?query=//MessageHeader
however my equivalent oxygen xquery does not return data and rather continues to run not stopping
I've recently downloaded the jars and configured the Data Source Drivers as per the http://docs.basex.org/wiki/Integrating_oXygen
file:/mnt/xslt_volume/i4EnrichV7/analysis/resources/libs/basex-xqj-1.2.3.jar file:/mnt/xslt_volume/i4EnrichV7/analysis/resources/libs/xqj-api-1.0.jar file:/mnt/xslt_volume/i4EnrichV7/analysis/resources/libs/xqj2-0.1.0.jar
In the basex connection which is enabled I've got the following settings
port 8080
databaseName DDEX
logLevel
description
loginTimeout 6000
serverName localhost
user admin
password admin
I
set up a trasformation scenario with BaseX transformer with the following xquery
let $content := //MessageHeaderreturn $content
The scenario does not return any data
Thoughts?
Regards

Hi Alex,
I can only help you with two quick guesses at the moment:
1)
Quoted text · Alex Muir · 1 line
>> > port 8080
looks like a kind of HTTP Port; the server by default runs on port: 1984 does this change anything?
2) does changing your query to:
Quoted text · Alex Muir · 2 lines
> let $content := //MessageHeader > return $content[1]
change anything?
I just tried to set up the oxygen integration as depicted in our wiki and it worked on Mac OS, using the 7.3 ZIP and the XQJ Drivers found @xqj.net I know this "it works on my machine" probably does not help you much, but I am confident we can find the cause of your problem :-)
Best
Michael

Hi Michael,
I'm seeing that I was doing things in a way that probably was not recommended.
I had:
1. installed jetty sudo yum install jetty
2. downloaded the war file to /usr/share/jetty/webapps/BaseX73.war
3. Create context xml here /usr/share/jetty/contexts/contexts/BaseX73.xml
4. started the server cd /usr/share/jetty/ and java -jar start.jar
This gave me access through at 8080 and I've been loading data using curl calls without issue. I had been using the jar file standalone and so I thought using the war file in a similar way would be fine. I suppose it might but I could not connect using oxygen this way.
I've since changed my approach to using the complete basex distribution although I've run into a few other issues. I suppose the first was that oxygen was asking for woodstox-core jars so I downloaded those and added them to the lib directory. Secondly the complete distribution doesn't come with the basex-xqj-0.9.2.jar so I've put that into the lib with the other jars, it makes me wonder though if the instructions "Add the following JAR files above with the *Add* Button: xqj-api-1.0.jar, xqj2-0.0.1.jar and basex-xqj-0.9.2.jar (the version names of the JAR file may differ) " are accurate give only the first 2 files are included in the zip.
Finally now I'm getting an error "Description: Could not initialize class net.xqj.basex.bin.m" I'm not sure how to resolve this one although I assume I'm missing something.
I've started the server using the gui, loaded files into a db and used the gui server administration interface to start the server.
Thoughts?
Thanks Much
Alex

Hi Alex,
Have you tried using BaseX XQJ 1.2.3 [1]?
I suggest downloading the zip file on the xqj.net site and giving Oxygen all of the jars contained within the zip.
The XQDataSource class you will need to use within Oxygen is "net.xqj.basex.BaseXXQDataSource", if you have further problems, please let me know.
Regards,
Charles

Hi Charles,
I downloaded those.
I'm starting fresh here this morning downloading the
http://files.basex.org/releases/7.3/BaseX73.zip which I unzip in a folder, launch the gui and create a db with 3 xml files, close the gui and launch the server
Secondly I downloaded the http://xqj.net/basex/basex-xqj-1.2.3.zip and I've unzipped the 3 required jars into /opt/Oxygen XML Editor 14/lib/ and start oxygen
I configure the basex data source in oxygen and run an xquery. The first error message I get is
E [BaseX] Provider com.ctc.wstx.stax.WstxInputFactory not found.
I resolve this error by downloading
http://repository.codehaus.org/org/codehaus/woodstox/woodstox-core-asl/4.1.4/woodstox-core-asl-4.1.4.jarinto /opt/Oxygen XML Editor 14/lib/ folder and run the xquery again and get the following error
Engine name: BaseX
Severity: error
Description: org/codehaus/stax2/XMLInputFactory2
I run again not changing anything and get the error
Engine name: BaseX
Severity: error
Description: Could not initialize class net.xqj.basex.bin.m
--
Oddly I restart oxygen run again and get the message that:
E [BaseX] XQuery API for Java(XQJ) libraries are not present in file:/opt/Oxygen XML Editor 14/lib/ directory. Please check the XQuery section from the user manual for instructions.
And yet they are there in the folder and listed in the data source as follows
file:/opt/Oxygen%20XML%20Editor%2014/lib/basex-xqj-1.2.3.jar file:/opt/Oxygen%20XML%20Editor%2014/lib/xqj-api-1.0.jar
file:/opt/Oxygen%20XML%20Editor%2014/lib/xqj2-0.1.0.jar
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong here?
Thanks
Alex

Ahh. oxygen support figuring out it's not just me, read below..
Hello Alex,
Apologies for the late reply.
We haven't yet tested the .war variant of BaseX with Oxygen. So I can't yet comment on its specifics.
However, I've just tried with the standalone BaseX-7.3 (Windows installer distribution) and can't get the current XQJ driver to work with Oxygen (This has previously worked with BaseX-7.0.2).
I've configured an XQJ data source driver in Oxygen with the required jars(xqj-api-1.0.jar, xqj2-0.1.0.jar and basex-xqj-1.2.0.jar), but I keep getting:
"E [BaseX7.3] Could not initialize class net.xqj.basex.bin.m" or if I add all the BaseX jars in the data source driver, I eventually get: "E [BaseX7.3] javax.xml.stream.XMLInputFacto
ry.newFactory()Ljavax/xml/stream/XMLInputFactory;"
Note that, when validating, Oxygen will responds with an error like this: "E [BaseX7.3 Full] XQuery API for Java(XQJ) libraries are not present in file:/C:/Program Files/Oxygen XML Editor 14.1/lib/ directory. Please check the XQuery section from the user manual for instructions."
That's an obsolete and misleading error message. You shouldn't copy any libraries to the Oxygen lib folder (that can cause a lot of problems with conflicting libraries), it should simply work with the XQJ jars configured in the data source driver.
We're still investigating what's going on. We'll let you know as soon as we have results.
Regards,
Adrian

Dear Ionela,
thanks a lot for your support and your feedback. I decided to also pass this on to our BaseX mailing list; hope it’s ok.
