Hi,
It seems there is an error with the collection function. Something like this:
collection("directory")[5]
does not return anything in 9.0 but it does in 8.6.7

Fixed, thanks. Filter expressions were rewritten to path expressions, which may be subject to further index rewritings. In the given case, due to the positional predicates, this was incorrect.
