Hello, the version 7.5 of the marvellous BaseX - database has the new function convert:dateTime-to-ms This function is an ideal candidate to transform a fixed date like '2012-09-21T00:00:00' to the unix timestamp, well it was designed for it. 1. Therefore I would like to ask what a possible release date for version 7.5 could be, is it planned in rather in weeks or month? 2. I used (current-dateTime() - xs:dateTime("1970-01-01T00:00:00")) div xs:dayTimeDuration('PT0.001S') as a starting point, but so far attempts to somehow substitute
                    current-dateTime()
with
                    xs:dateTime( '2012-09-21T00:00:00')
have not been successful. Just as a fall back if the current project becomes productive earlier than the BaseX version 7.5. 3. It is rather easy to implement a function like convert:dateTime-to-ms in Java and use it via a Java Binding, but this is politically not wanted within the project. Thank you for your attention and with best regards Andreas P. S.: The BaseXGUI is a really smart tool. And sometimes I think it would enhance the productivity even further if it would support parentheses matching ... BaseX 7.5 was initially scheduled for the end of September; due to some other important deadlines, we're sorry to say we'll have to postpone the release a little. Here are the most important todos that have to be settled before we can move on to the final version: - XQuery, database module: add db:create() and db:drop() - GUI, editor: introduce search/replace functionality - HTTP: direct evaluation of XQuery files and command scripts - Wiki: document all new features Note, however, that the current snapshot is very stable. As it contains some important bug fixes, we highly recommend to switch to the latest beta version.

True. If you are interested, you could think about sponsoring the feature ;) Christian

Hello Christian, thank you for your quick and comprehensive answer. Of, course
          declare function local:dateTime-to-ms($point as xs:dateTime)
      as xs:decimal {

              ($point -xs:dateTime("1970-01-01T00:00:00")) div
      xs:dayTimeDuration('PT0.001S')
}; usage
          local:dateTime-to-ms(xs:dateTime("1970-01-02T00:00:00"))
could mimic aspects of convert:dateTime-to-ms until a final release of 7.5 is there. With best regards Andreas P. S.: Since XQDT works under Eclipse 3.7 and offers parentheses matching I'm afraid I'll not get the resources to sponsor the feature under BaseXGui ;-) -- Wir laden Sie ein: Mittelstandsmesse MEiM 2012 in Paderborn Ein ganzer Tag voller Kontakte und Wissen auf Westfalens größter Kongressmesse für den Mittelstand am 26.09.2012 im Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum Paderborn.
