BaseX is very light-weight. It can be run and used in lots of different ways, such as
* standalone application, using the [[#Standalone ModeGraphical User Interface|Standalone ModeGraphical User Interface]] or the [[#Graphical User InterfaceStandalone Mode|Graphical User InterfaceStandalone Mode]],;* [[#Database Server|Database Server]] in a client/server architecture, ; or
* [[#Web Application|Web Application]] called from a web server.
