The {{Code|.basex}} [[Configuration#Configuration Files|configuration file]] is parsed by every new local BaseX instance. It is used to store options to disk:
* Global options can only be set via the configuration file or system properties (see abovebelow).* With {{Version|7.6}} and later, local options can also be specified in the configuration file after the {{Code|# Local Options}} comment.
