Welcome to the Open Source documentation of BaseX!
BaseX is a light-weight, high-performance and scalable XML database system and XPath/XQuery processor with full support for the W3C Update and Full Text extensions. It focuses on storing, querying, and visualizing large XML documents and collections. BaseX is platform-independent and distributed under the free BSD License (find more in Wikipedia).
This documentation is based on BaseX 6.7.1.
Features that have been added in an unreleased version are flagged in red (e.g.: Version 6.8).
Getting Started
The Getting Started Section gives you a quick introduction to BaseX. We suggest to start with the graphical frontend (BaseX GUI) as this is the easiest way to access your XML data and get an idea of how BaseX works.
