As XQuery and Java have different type systems, XQuery arguments must be converted to equivalent Java types, and the result must be converted back to XQuery types. The used mappings are listed [[#Data TyesTypes|at the end]] of this article. Most notably, if a Java function expects an integer, you will need to convert your XQuery integer values to {{Code|xs:int}}.
